We offer a comprehensive CT Scanning Service at Ku-Ring-Gai Veterinary Hospital, using our GE Helical Goldseal system.
CT is a relatively new diagnostic tool to veterinarians but has many applications to provide a better understanding of anatomical case pathology, including:
- Head: ears, skulls, teeth, nasal passage, sinuses, facial bones, orbit
- Otitis media and bulla osteomyelitis
- Chronic nasal discharge
- Brain: contrast and no contrast brain imaging
- Spinal: vertebral, neural assessment (contrast and non contrast)
- Peripheral orthopaedics: fragmented coronoid processes, elbow incongruity, bone cysts, metaphyseal and diaphyseal pathology
- Chest: high definition lung assessment, lung parenchyma, bronchial disease and mediastinum
- Cancer search
- Trauma
- Lumps
- Surgical planning: evaluation of pre surgical masses, surgical planning for multiple fractures
- 3D virtual imaging of colon, stomach, trachea, nose and throat (for high risk anaesthetic patients)
- Abdomen: kidney stones, contrast lymphangiography, liver
Our CT system has been custom specified and installed by GE, who also provide the comprehensive monitoring and maintenance of the machine, ensuring year-round reliability.
This model of machine has been used for many years in human CT and is also in use at a number of veterinary schools, including UC Davis, USA, one of the world’s top veterinary facilities. The radiography department at UC Davis has been kind in assisting us to further improve our CT scanning protocols and images.
