Orthopaedic and arthritis developments improving our pet’s quality of life.

Cruciate Repair gets a step up.
Ku-Ring-Gai Veterinary Hospital is now pleased to announce that it is offering one of the latest techniques in cruciate ligament repair. Cruciate rupture is the breaking of a ligament within the knee that renders the pet unable to walk for many months. The Tibial Tuberosity Advancements or TTA has been developed over the last few years by Dr Slobodan Tepich, in Europe, and has been commercialised across the world.
The TTA is now considered one of the gold standard cruciate repair procedures by orthopaedic veterinary surgeons. The benefit of this procedure is that for animal suffering a ruptured cruciate ligament, it provides an earlier return to function time for the patient, which in turn reduces the load on the other legs and joints. Patients who undergo TTA appear to be significantly more comfortable post surgically compared with previous techniques. Our TTA results replicate the results that have been published throughout the world. This procedure is being performed by veterinary partner Dr Jamie Geddes and consultant orthopaedic veterinary surgeon Dr Jill Nash. We are grateful for the technical advice and training assistance of Dr Bruce Smith, specialist veterinary surgeon from the Brisbane Veterinary Specialist Centre, in developing at TTA program. Should you will require more information about this procedure or any other orthopaedic condition, feel free to contact Dr Geddes on 9449 4111
A permanent nerve block to stop the pain of arthritis
Dorsal acetabular denervation is a technique new to KVH and further compliments our advanced arthritis management program. This procedure drastically reduces the pain that is suffered by animals with hip dysplasia by creating a permanent anaesthetic nerve block for the joint whereby animals can continue to move out about on the arthritic joint without feeling the pain.
This minimally invasive procedure is the ultimate painkiller and will significantly complement our world leading arthritis care program. Our program involves all aspects of diagnosis, medical management and surgical management of arthritis, from joint supplements, dietary care and neutraceuticals through to anti-inflammatories, stem cell transplants and dorsal acetabular denervation. We know we can offer your pet the very best in arthritic management. Feel free to call one of our arthritis experts on 9449 4111.
