The veterinarians at Ku-Ring-Gai Veterinary Hospital have successfully developed Australia’s first regenerative stem cell therapy programme for small animals that provides significant improvement in pain control, mobility and well being.
Animals suffering arthritis have been successfully treated by taking a small amount of their own fat which is subsequently purified and injected back into a damaged joint. To date over 40 patients have been treated with a response rate of over 80% in terms of improvement in quality of life, movement, range of motion of joints and pain control.
This process involves many advances in veterinary medicine and surgery including the use of minimally invasive liposuction for fat harvesting through to CAT scan guided transplantation to ensure minimal invasion and the highest levels of accuracy.
